An exciting and educational two days exploring the beautiful River Fowey. Available all year and suitable for all above the age of 8 years.
The first part of the journey along the River Fowey is undertaken on foot. We will build up your map skills as we criss-cross the river close to its source. We take time to explore the environment, wildlife habitats and landscape that are both seen and unseen as we discover the moorland source of this important Cornish river.
On the second day of our journey along the River Fowey we get up close and personal with the river. We board rafted canoes and paddle downstream from the ancient town Lostwithiel and on to the coastal town of Fowey where our journey is complete. As we travel, we will see for ourselves how the landscape and historical use of land has changed and transformed from the wilderness of the moors to the busy vibrant river that now enters the sea. With this change we can also examine how the river changes from fresh water to a tidal estuary.
