This 2 day coastal and countryside walking leader with camping endorsement assessment is intended for those leading groups in open countryside and on the coastal footpaths of the counties of the South West. It also enables leaders to supervise camping expeditions on recognised campsites in non-remote locations.
The course assumes that you have achieved the relevant training experience by attending the Coastal and Countryside walking leader with camping endorsement training course, and have gone on to gain suitable log book experience.
This award course is the first level on the South West Moorland Leaders (SWML) Training Scheme. This qualification is the minimum requirement for leaders of Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions.

Pre-requisites for this training course
Method of Assessment
The candidate will be required to show competence in the relevant skills and to demonstrate effective leadership during a half-day walk of a minimum 4-hour duration. Also to show navigation standard equivalent to the National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) bronze level.
The candidates must demonstrate competence in camping skills, including an overnight camp with emphasis on the safe use of stoves, fires and general hygiene.
