The Level One Coach qualification is the first and most important step of the British Canoeing coaching pathway. It is appropriate for individuals new to coaching, who have some knowledge of paddlesport, and wish to learn how to help others enjoy paddling.
The course content includes personal skills at the required level, safety and rescues, group management in water venues suitable to the level of award, leader equipment, weather, access and environment and dealing with emergencies.
This four-day training and assessment course is based at Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre, St Austell. Accommodation at the Porthpean Centre can be provided at no extra cost, please ask in advance. Please bring your own personal paddling equipment and clothing. Kayaks and open canoes can be made available, please advise us before your arrival if you need to borrow any equipment.
