National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS)

Carnyorth NICAS climbing centre

We are able to award level 1 Foundation Climber, setting you on your way to the next level Top Rope Climber at one of our other indoor climbing awarding centres.

Our experienced instructors have been delivering the NICAS syllabus for several years and we benefit from having two climbing venues at Carnyorth which includes an indoor wall and a mobile climbing tower.

Learning climbing, the NICAS way.

NICAS Level 1 at Carnyorth with our Mobile Climbing TowerNational Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS) is open to everyone, aged 7 and upwards. It was created to promote climbing development and accredit individual achievement on artificial climbing structures. It can be used as a starting point for people wishing to take up climbing and mountaineering.

NICAS for DofE & GCSE in Physical Education

Did you know that NICAS has been used to support academic and vocational qualifications since 2008. NICAS has been mapped into the GCSE curriculum for Edexcel, OCR and AQA. Many schools and colleges use NICAS to fulfill the Physical element of the Duke of Edinburgh syllabus.
