This CPD event provides visit leaders with information and updates to assist the planning for visits to large cities, major events (such as cultural or sporting events) or significant travel hubs (Heathrow and similar).

Visits to Big Cities

The objective of the course is to move visit leaders from an irrational fear of terrorism to a rational concern. This course  allows for effective planning, confident and effective communication with parents/carers and other stakeholders. Ultimately benefiting young people with important educational experiences.

Learning Outcomes include:

  • To better understand the nature of the threat
  • To ensure planning is suitable and thorough
  • To provide advice on what to do if you are involved at the scene of an incident

Content includes:

  • The current landscape
  • Threat levels and what they mean
  • What does suspicious behaviour look like?
  • Practicalities
  • Keeping up to date with information before and during the visit
  • What if something happens before I go?
