Canoeing expeditions in Cornwall

Canoeing is a fabulous way to see the country. You can access so many areas that simply cannot be reached on foot. Better still, expeditions by canoe mean that you never need to carry a rucksack. The canoe will do all the heavy work, for both you and your paddling companions.

Canoe Expeditions in Cornwall

Exploring Cornwall by canoe is about as good as it gets. We are able to offer a range of open canoe journeys from single days to the full bushcraft over-night experience. There's bound to be one to catch your attention.

The tidal rivers of Cornwall

We are blessed in Cornwall with beautiful tidal rivers that reach right into the heart of the county. The three rivers of exception are;

  • River Fal - There are many tidal tributaries of the Fal, one of which is the River Truro
  • River Fowey - This tidal river can be paddled from as high as Lostwithiel
  • River Tamar - The borders of Devon and Cornwall are mapped out by this river.

Each of these rivers provide their own very special days out and depending on your outlook their banks can offer perfect cover for a bushcraft camp under the stars.

If you are looking to combine canoeing with the curriculum then  try one of our three very special journeys;

Combine Canoeing with Bushcraft

Bushcraft sharp-tools skillsThe canoeing lifestyle is enhanced when combined with a bushcraft experience. Imagine for a  moment, building a shelter out of your up-turned canoe, lighting a camp-fire and cooking your favourite outdoors meal whilst you watch the sun set over the estuary.

If you are interested in the over night bushcraft experience please discuss this when booking. You will learn some traditional canoe camping techniques, learn to light fires from foraged material and get to practice with traditional bushcraft sharp tools. More information on our overnight canoe/bushcraft experience.

Canoeing for Education

So many elements of the curriculum can be covered whilst journeying by canoe. Travelling through the countryside, observing changes in landscape, industry and history. If you are interested in getting your students out of the classroom to complement their learning then visit our 'Curriculum enhancing canoe journeys' page for some inspiring days out on the Cornish rivers and estuaries.
