This 2-day Summer Moorland Camping Endorsement training course is intended for those wishing to upgrade their summer moorland walking leader award to enable them to lead overnight expeditions in remote locations on open moorland terrain.
You will receive training in a range of topics to include the selection and use of lightweight tents and stoves. Additionally group leadership skills relating to the safe operation of a wild (remote) campsite.
The training will partly take place in a classroom environment and will also include an overnight camp on the moors.
This award is part of the South West Mountain and Moorland Leader (SWMML) scheme and enables holders of the award to operate in areas such as Dartmoor and Brecon Beacons.
It is ideally suited to leaders involved with Ten Tors or Duke of Edinburgh leadership (D of E).
