The coastal and moorland areas of the South West provide some of the best walking environments in the country and are therefore popular with leaders wanting to introduce young people to wild country walking and camping. The series of SWMML awards in the scheme mean that regardless of your point of entry there is an award that fits with your requirements.
All of the above courses are available to book online, just follow the link to the relevant course and you will be able to go on to book online from that page.
The awards are split into either; Coastal and Countryside leader which once achieved will allow you to lead walks in coastal and countryside areas (non-mountain and moorland) in summer conditions, and Moorland leader, which once achieved will allow you to lead walks across remote areas of the moors of the South West.
There are additional elements for both coastal and countryside and moorland leader which also allow you to either use campsites with your group, or even wild camp out on the remote moors. Plus the highest award in the scheme (Winter Moorland Leader) even allows for the holder to lead groups in winter conditions.
Our most popular courses are those listed above, however each course is available without the camping endorsement element, if desired. Should you wish to just train for the walking leader only (without camping) please contact us directly.
