RYA Powerboat & Safetyboat

If you use powerboats for leisure or work, or in connection with another activity such as sailing or rescue, then our RYA Powerboat Level 1 & 2 courses are for you.

Cornwall Outdoors is a provider of the RYA Powerboat Scheme that covers driving small open powerboats such as rigid inflatable boats RIBs, sports boats and small launches.

RYA Powerboat Course

The courses are split into three levels. Once you have completed Powerboat level 2, you can register and complete the RYA Safety boat award:

Definition of a powerboat covered in the scheme

Powerboats are generally powered by an outboard engine, do not normally have accommodation on board, and so are not intended for extended cruises. They may be used for short coastal or inland trips, fishing, and safety cover for other water sports, waterskiing or as a support boat for diving.
