Meet at the 'The Hurlers' Minions Car Park on Bodmin Moor at 6.00pm. Walk from the car park straight onto the moors and begin your night navigation training. Training includes combining navigation techniques, such as; pacing, timing, compass bearings, compass back-bearings, hand-railing and wide search techniques.
Note: This course provides extends your understanding of moorland navigation and can should be undertaken by those wanting to further their navigation skills beyond that of our 'Introduction to Moorland Navigation Course'.
We can provide courses for any number of days but a one day course is ideal to learn or brush up on the basic skills needed to get you going with your navigation.
1 person £90 | 2 people £100 | 3 - 5 people £110
We see that operating with a small instructor to client ratio is the safest and quickest way to learn the essential skills required to remain safe on the hill. That is why we only work to a maximum of 1:5 Instructor:Client.
The weather cannot necessarily be predicted so please bring suitable clothing that will keep you warm and dry in most weathers. We will be navigating by night onto the open moorland for the duration of the evening and therefore you should arrive with warm layers, waterproof clothing and walking boots and a head-torch with spare batteries. We also recommend bringing a small rucksack with additional spare layers, a flask, drink and snack.
We will provide you a map and compass for the duration of the evening. Should you need to borrow a head-torch please ask in advance.
Providing that you feel fit enough to walk up to ten kilometers over the course of the day then you probably are in good enough condition to attend the course. Be aware that some of the ground will be uneven and so a pair of walking poles may be of benefit to some.
We would appreciate that you confidentially inform us of any injuries or pre-existing medical conditions that may affect your ability to participate on the day.
You can record any pre-existing medical conditions onto the course application form below and verbally update your instructor on the day should anything change. This information will help the instructor make suitable route choice to enable you to participate and improve your overall enjoyment of the course for everyone.
