Cornwall Outdoors is a provider of the British Canoeing Star Awards in paddlesport skills for all levels of ability and in all types of craft, so if you are seeking training in any of the canoe or kayak disciplines contact us first.
The BC One Star is a flat-water award that demonstrates an individual has basic boat control and foundation skills. The one star can be taken in any kind of paddlesport craft (e.g. sit-on-top, open canoe, polo boat, sea kayak, racing canoe etc.)
The BC Two Star is an improvement award that helps paddlers develop fundamental paddlesport skills on flat water. The emphasis is on gaining a breadth of experience, creating the desired movement of the boat and developing an understanding of how the paddle, boat and water interact.
The scheme changes at the BC Three Star award, where each candidate must gain proficiency awards for any specific craft in the paddle sport range. You can therefore gain a 3 star in a range of disciplines e.g. inland kayak, open canoe, sea kayak.
Depending on the award that you are currently taking we will spend time developing your core skills in the craft of your choice. Our experienced and qualified staff will help progress you towards success.
Cost and Duration of the Course
The star award scheme is a progressive system which means that it is better being spaced out over a number of weeks, rather than simply delivered over a couple of days. To discuss your paddlesport development please contact us to arrange an appropriate course.
