Carnyorth Outdoor Education Centre is situated in west Cornwall between St Just and Pendeen. The centre is spacious and colourful with attractive grounds and friendly staff. It is in a fantastic location with a cliff edged coast one way where old mining buildings perch; and wild moorland the other way where a Bronze stone circle can be found.
Originally built in 1893 as a village school for the mining families, it is now a thriving centre where the staff endeavour to share their passion for the environment.
The centre which is centrally heated has two large dormitories, one with 12 bunks and one with 14 and 2 separate rooms which can be used by staff with 4 bunks in each. A couple of spare mattresses can be utilised if required.
There is a large common room and separate dining room and kitchen. The centre is self catering however catering can be provided upon request at an extra cost.
This area of Cornwall is wild and wonderful and within walking distance there are wild moors, a Bronze Age stone circle, World Heritage mining remains including the much visited and well played in restored arsenic tunnels. A short drive away are superb beaches, climbing areas and great tracks for cycling.
The staff at Carnyorth Outdoor Education Centre can organise activities for your group, in various combinations. These are mainly for primary school groups, however some activities are suitable for all ages. Activities are available to both residential and day user groups.
